Military police arrested a man who had two outstanding arrest warrants on suspicion of drug trafficking and theft offenses.
This Sunday morning, 03, the Military Police detained a 53-year-old man who had two arrest warrants on suspicion of drug trafficking and theft. The incident took place in the city of Katalon in the southeastern region of Goias.
According to the Prime Minister, the mobile tactician of the 18th battalion took part in the incident. The team was walking along 416th Street in the Pontal Norte neighborhood when they spotted an object with a suspicious attitude. The corporation did not disclose the details of what it did.
During the approach, troopers ran a background check on the suspect and found him to be a fugitive from justice with two outstanding warrants for felony drug trafficking and theft.
Faced with the situation, the police took the man to the Catalan Civil Police Department and later to the Regional Prison Department, where he remains at the disposal of justice.
The prime minister did not reveal whether the suspect justified any actions that are being investigated.
The Criminal Code prescribes a punishment for theft: 1 to 4 years in prison and a fine. Meanwhile, imprisonment for the crime of drug trafficking ranges from 8 to 20 years, in addition to a fine of R$1,500 to R$4,000.
