Brazil – Athlete Leandro dos Reis Silva, 19, died after an accident on Sunday (03) in the city of Santa Izabel (PA), metropolitan region of Belém. U-20 player Remo was on a motorcycle and collided with a vehicle.
Leandro was rescued and taken to the Metropolitan Hospital, in Ananindeu, but died in the early hours of this Monday morning (04). The information was confirmed by sources in Clube do Remo. The athlete was the champion of Pará in Leão Azul last year and played as a second midfielder and also as an attacking midfielder. The player was referring to the match Craques do Futuro x Remo which was scheduled today in Ceju at 15:30, but the match which was valid for the round of 16 U-20 was canceled at the request of Remo and accepted by the Football Federation of Pará (FPF)
Remo’s management is fully supporting the player’s family and has provided a bus for the players, staff and members of the technical committee to pay their respects to the athlete who will be buried in Santa Izabel.
In a post on social networks, Remo expressed regret over the death of the young athlete
“Club do Remo deeply regrets the death of athlete Leandro dos Reis Silva, a midfielder of our basic categories. Our condolences to the family and friends.”
The Pará Football Federation (FPF) also expressed its solidarity with the friends and family of Leandro Silva dos Reis on Twitter.
“The Pará Football Federation deeply regrets the death of the athlete Leandro dos Reis Silva from the U-20 Clube do Remo team and expresses its condolences to all his family and friends”.
