Alex Morono vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 282

At least one bout in jeopardy at UFC 282 has been recorded, putting Santiago Ponzinibbio on the cards.

Following Robbie Lawler’s withdrawal from the tournament, Ponzinibbio will instead face Alex Morono (22-7, 1NC) as part of the Pay-Per-View card on Dec. 12, 2022 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Gus, Nevada

A source familiar with the situation confirmed the reservation to Cageside Press following initial reports by John Morgan of The UndergroundMorono will fight with five days’ notice and is not expected to attend UFC 282 Media Day on Wednesday.

The fight was switched to a 180-pound catchweight to give Morano the least amount of time to lose weight.

Morono last competed in July at UFC 277 with a win over Matthew Semelsberger. During that time, he had victories over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, David Sawada and Mickey Gal.

Poncinibbio (28-6) lost by split decision to Michel “Demolidor” Pereira in his final outing. He’s lost two fights and has gone 1-3 in his last four.

UFC 282 comes to a close on Saturday, December 12, 2022, with Jan Blachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev headlining the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. The following pairings are reported for the event.
