The race for leadership positions at the African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo is heating up. The current provincial chairman of the party, Stanley Matabata, is facing ANC PEC member Dr. Dixon Masemola.
Matabata is fighting for a third term. He has led the party in the province since 2014. Matabata rose to the helm of the party following the dissolution of the provincial executive committee chaired by Kassel Matale.
Matabata expressed confidence that he would continue to lead the party.
“I have never lost an election, as far as I can remember, because I do not fight lost battles. I calculate my forces correctly, I am a soldier myself and before I go into battle I calculate my forces and assess the balance of my forces. ”
In May, the ANCYL election conference in Limpopo was suspended
The elective conference in Limpopo of the ANC Youth League had failed until the next order.
The conference, which began with the registration process, was unable to hold the opening ceremony – where the party’s provincial chairman and Limpopo prime minister, Stanley Matabata, was due to deliver a speech.
The conference was suspended due to disputes over the credentials of some delegates.
For the past three years, the ruling party’s youth league has been led by a working team following a failure to hold an elective conference.
