Argentina is behind Brazil in the FIFA ranking

If the team led by Scaloni had won the final in normal time or extra time, it would have passed to the Brazilian team.

FIFA released its new team rankings this Thursday (22) and Brazil, despite crashing out in the World Cup quarter-finals, remain top, a position they held for most of 2022.

Great World Cup champions Argentina moved up one place over France to take the runner-up spot previously held by Belgium, who failed to make it past the group stage and dropped to 4th place. If Scaloni’s team had won the final in normal time or extra time, they would have passed Brazil, but since the victory came on penalties, they are behind by 24.59 points.

Despite the defeat in the final, France moved up one place to 3rd place. England, which lost to Les Bleus in the quarter-finals, is ranked 5th.

Then came Holland, who lost to the champions in the quarter-finals, Croatia, who finished the World Cup in 3rd place, and Italy, who did not even qualify for this World Cup.

Morocco, knocked out by France in the semi-finals, were Qatar’s biggest sensation. The team became the first African team to reach this stage and therefore rose the most in the rankings, reaching 22nd position with 142 points in the last 12 months. .
