Bellator 292 preview: Alexander Shapley
In tomorrow night’s co-main event at Bellator 292, the Lightweight World Grand Prix will officially kick off. Top contenders Alexander Chabeli (22-3) and Tofik Musayev (20-4) will go head-to-head as they look to book their tickets to the semi-finals.
Moussaieff is a former RIZIN World Champion and has a lot of experience which includes beating former Bellator Champion Patricky Pitbull. Moussaieff lost his final bout at RIZIN snapping a 15-fight winning streak but regained steam in his first bout at Bellator.
He knocked Sydney out of the law in less than 30 seconds. He made a massive statement and will be looking to ride that momentum to victory tomorrow night. However, it would be a daunting task considering his opponent.
Alexandre Chablé will be riding a seven-fight Grand Prix winning streak. He made his debut with the promotion in 2021 going a perfect 3-0. In his final bout, he knocked out former lightweight champion Brent Primus.
Bellator predicted 292
Although these two don’t have the biggest names in the world, this is a fight that people need to put on the card. These are two of the most underrated lightweights in the world and I think they are clearly a match.
When it comes to this fight, I think the key will be where to fight. While both men are capable on foot and both have strength, I will give Moussaieff the advantage. I think he hits a little bit harder and his shots are a bit cleaner than the chabli shots.
Shabliy, meanwhile, has a pretty solid grapple and I think he’ll be banking on that at Bellator 292. I’m not sure either guy will get the finish line in this bout. My intuition goes with Shabliy on this match. I think he’ll be able to be good enough to round things out, but his grappling secures enough rounds to win the decision.
Prediction: Alexander Shapley by decision
