Botafogo’s Copa do Brasil run ends in a huff after the dramatic classification
Adryelson scored at the last second and Sergipe’s team was furious; the crowd invaded the lawn

On the night of this Thursday, the 2nd, Botafogo played against Sergipe from the first phase of Brazil Cup and found the job in dramatic fashion. The team scored in the 54th minute and angered Sergipe. The end of the game at Batistão turned into a war zone, with the referee running and the police trying to protect them. Sergipe opened the scoring in the first half, through José de Lima, and were on course to qualify for the next stage, but then Adryelson scored a last-minute equalizer to see Fogão through CBF that, in case of a tie, the team with the highest expression advances. After the final whistle, Sergipe players and part of the team staff revolted after Botafogo’s goal came after 9 minutes of extra time. A member of the team punched the referee, the crowd invaded the pitch and a fight broke out. Botafogo coach Luís Castro was targeted by fans.

Immediately after the final whistle of Sergipe x Botafogo, there was an invasion on the pitch. The referee was attacked by the former president of Sergipe and the fans entered the pitch and tried to attack coach Luís Castro.
