Chelsea are lining up a January move for Man Utd target Adrien Rabiot and could offer Hakim Ziyech to Juventus in a swap deal

CHELSEA are ready to make a winter swoop for Adrien Rabiot to strengthen their midfield, it is claimed.

The Juventus ace was on the verge of a move to Manchester United in the summer after the two clubs agreed a fee for the midfielder.

However, the Red Devils pulled out of a deal for the 27-year-old due to his sky-high wage demands.

But Rabiot’s reported contract demands have reportedly not deterred new Chelsea boss Graham Potter.

Calciomercato claim the west Londoners are weighing up a move to bring the former Paris Saint-Germain man to Stamford Bridge in January.

And it is claimed Premier League rivals Newcastle could be in contention for the French international’s signature.

Potter is said to be willing to offer Juve winger Hakim Ziyech to land his man.

The Old Lady could very well accept a player and cash deal as they are reportedly already looking for a successor for Angel di Maria.

But Juventus are said to be working on a new contract for Rabiot, who recently said of his future: “There has been a lot of talk.

“But I was always focused both in training and in the game. Recovery? I don’t know.

“There are other things to think about at the moment.

“I’m concentrating on the pitch and doing well for the team to get them out of a difficult situation and then we’ll see what happens.

“Honestly, I’m not even thinking about the World Cup. I think it’s the same for others. We have to focus on the club.”

Chelsea will be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Austria for their fifth Champions League Group E match against RB Salzburg.

Rabiot and his Juve teammates will also be in action on Tuesday when they face Benfica in their penultimate Group H game.
