Ciro says Lula’s support in the final 2 is not viable

Ciro, however, expressed his desire to go to the second round against Lula. “I would like Brazil to get rid of Bolsonaro in the first round.”

PDT presidential candidate Ciro Gomez said he would accept the support of former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) if he makes it to the second round against President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). On the other hand, he announced that he will not ally with PA if he is excluded from the second round of this year’s election campaign.

“If I go to the second round with Bolsonaro, of course I want Lula’s support. The opposite (support for Lula) is no longer viable. How can I say that they are corrupt, they are incompetent, should I go on stage with them? It becomes complicity. Lula is most responsible for the tragedy happening in the country,” said the presidential candidate in an interview with GloboNews’ Central das Elections.

Ciro, however, expressed his desire to go to the second round against Lula. “I would like Brazil to get rid of Bolsonaro in the first round.”

In 2018, when he failed to reach the second round, Ciro avoided announcing his support for then-PT candidate Fernando Haddad, who was contesting the runoff with Jair Bolsonaro.

According to an Ipespe poll published on Monday, Ciro remains in contention in third place with 9%; Simone Tebet (MDB) has 4%; Andre Yanones (Avante), 2%; Pablo Marchal (Pros) and Felipe D’Avila (New) have 1% each. Other initial candidates did not earn points. Lula and Bolsonaro are in the lead with 44% and 35% respectively.
