Cosern opens the selection for the new class of the School of Electricians

THE Neoenergia Cosern Registration opens next Tuesday (November 1) for the selection of a new class of the School of Electricians. The course will last six months and the practical part will be held in Mossoró.

Applications must be made on the website of the National Service for Industrial Training in Rio Grande do Norte (www.rn.senai.br), the institution responsible for training, and close on Sunday (6/11).

At least 35% of vacancies will be reserved for women, as a way to expand female presence in the operation and promote gender equality within the company, which already has 26 women working as network electricians across the state.”, emphasizes Márcio Caires Vasconcelos, CEO of Neoenergia Cosern.

The course load is 480 hours (equivalent to six months) and classes are scheduled to start on February 1, 2023, at night. The first phase, which includes the theoretical part, is taught in online and distance formats. The second phase is in person, with lessons at SENAI Ítalo Bolonha, in Mossoró, at night in a field with poles, following all safety protocols.

Neoenergia aims to expand the presence of women in leadership positions and in activities related to the operation by 2030. Recently, the company signed the declaration of support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), an initiative promoted by UN Women and Global Compact.

After completing the course, students can work as an electrician in the labor market or get hired for a job at Neoenergia. Of the more than 4,400 electricians trained by the School, around 3,300 have already been employed to work for the Neoenergia group.

Pioneering neoenergy

Neoenergia was a pioneer in the electricity sector by opening classes at the School of Electricians exclusively for women, started in Neoenergia Coelba (BA) and Neoenergia Pernambuco (PE), in 2019. The initiative is recognized as a global example of one of the Empowerment Principles of Women by WeEmpower, a program of UN Women with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the European Union to encourage good business practices.

Currently, a class formed exclusively by women, with 26 students, is being developed. New vacancies for the new classes of the School of Electricians will be opened during the next year.
