A rarely-seen reverse triangle by British bantamweight heavyweight Davey Grant that sent Raphael Assuncao into retirement was among the bonus winning performances at UFC Las Vegas on Saturday night.

The only Fight Night event to be held outside of UFC Apex, but still taking place in Las Vegas. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the promotion has set up shop at The Theater at Virgin Hotels. That’s the same venue where the PFL will open its regular season next month (formerly known as The Joint when the venue was The Hard. Rock Hotel, MMA is not new to this place)

UFC’s trip to The Theater was made by Dana White’s Power Slap The finals take place at Apex on the same night as UFC Fight Night 221, as the Las Vegas card is known. But it was White’s unsponsored Saturday MMA venture that went above and beyond with superb performances from Merab Dvalishvili, Jonathan Martinez, Grant and others.

However, Grant’s return won in the third round against Assuncao, who earned a 50K bonus. Grant was deducted for grabbing the fence. and had no choice but to end the race As the fist spun back toward Assuncao, Grant gained the advantage by locking the triangle back on the ground and squeezing with all his might.

Assuncao goes out to win a technical submission.

Also rewarded for his efforts was flyweight Bruno Silva, who won the technical submission at UFC Las Vegas when he choked Tyson. Nam prematurely, which earned Silva her second Performance of the Night bonus at the event.

Saturday’s bout of the night was Vitor Petrino vs. Anton Turkalj, a light heavyweight that gave the newly-debuted Petrino a unanimous victory.

The four fighters who win the bonus will receive an additional $50,000 for their efforts at UFC Las Vegas.
