Digital Enem has been canceled due to low adherence, says the president of Inep
Physical tests in 2023 are scheduled to take place on November 5 and 12
O National Secondary School Examination (Enem) Digital was canceled due to low compliance. The information was made known this Wednesday, the 8th, by the president of Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep), Manuel Palacios. In an interview with the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, Palácios justified the cancellation of the remote test by claiming that few students have chosen to take it since 2020, when it was created. The Mayor of the Municipality of Ministry of Education (MEC) also commented that the value of the digital version of one of the main forms of access to higher education in Brazil is not justified. In 2022, Enem Digital cost the public treasury 25.3 million BRL. This means that the cost per student was about BRL 860. At press time, the cost was approximately BRL 160. “We decided to cancel the digital edition and there are no plans for this to happen again,” Palácios explained. The 2023 Enem physical tests are scheduled to take place on November 5 and 12. Applications must be made between May 8 and May 19.
