Amazonas – Businessman Ednailson Rozenha is the new president of the Amazonas Football Federation (FAF). He was chosen this Monday morning, 4/7, after a vote that took place at the headquarters of the Sports Court of Amazonas (TJDAM), in Conjunto Vieiralves, in the center-south zone of Manaus.
The FAF president, Dissica Valério Tomaz, and his vice president, Pedro Augusto, were not present. In addition to absences, the conduct of the session should have been defined at the assembly. The president of Esporte Clube Tarumã, Ademir Maquiné, was supposed to lead the election.
Rozenha was elected by a majority with approximately 70% support from the professional football clubs of Amazonas and 100% of the leagues present at the assembly. Only the representatives of the municipality of Parintins were against, but they were not present.
In his sports career, the businessman was once the president of Fast Clube. It was under his management, in 2016, that the club came out of a 45-year drought without a title. Now he has the chance to rebuild the federation, which has been in the hands of one group for so many years.
Call for elections
The elections were announced after the federations and five other clubs convened an Extraordinary Assembly on April 22. A total of 34 subjects affiliated to FAF signed the document. Of these, five professional clubs: Princesa do Solimões, São Raimundo-AM, CDC Manicoré, Penarol-AM and Tarumã.
The acting president of the FAF was Pedro Augusto, the vice president of Dissica Valério Tomaz, in charge of that position for 32 years. Pedro took over, unofficially, after Dissica left for health reasons.
