Erin Blanchfield expects immediate match between Shevchenko and Grasso

LAS VEGAS, NV — Erin Blanchfield was a spectator at UFC 285 this past weekend. and was greatly disappointed when Alexa Grasso sends women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko

Even Blanchfield (11-1), the division’s top contender, bet on Grasso. “I think Alexa is a great fighter in her own right. But I don’t see her winning this fight anywhere,” Blancfield told media outlets, including Cageside Press, tonight. “Anything can happen. it’s a fight So let’s see what happens.”

It turned out that anything could happen. After a strong first round by challenger Grasso Shevchenko took over with her wrestling. She was on the points table going into the fourth round when Grasso put the champion’s back under the chin and forced Shevchenko to knock.

Now, Blanchefield might end up in another fight in between. Instead of waiting for the title, “If Alexa wins, I think they’ll definitely rematch. I think I want to fight in the meantime. I don’t want to wait that long. Just to get more experience under my belt and to compete. So when I fight for the title I’m used to it.”

As for the sacked Valentina Shevchenko, Blanchfield won the title after her win over Jessica Andrade, the New Jersey native brushed off.

“Honestly, I don’t really care. If you look at this division I don’t think anything other than my next fight is appropriate.”

By the way, after a new race
