Essential Phone 2. Meets Solana Saga specification

Maybe one or the other still remembers the smartphone that was called Essential Phone and was a product of one of the Android developers. The Essential company no longer exists, but it seems that we are preparing a successor to this model called OSOM OV1.

OSOM is a company essentially founded on the “ruins” of Essential, also trading as Solana Mobile. They decided to try their hand at developing smartphones again.

This time it’s a product that might resemble some flagship devices, ie OSOM OV1 aka Solana Saga.

Essential Phone 2 specification

It will power this smartphone Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, currently the most powerful processor in the Qualcomm range. It will also be on board 12GB RAM LPDDR5 and for the user 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Interestingly, it can be expanded by a further 512 GB using a memory card microSD.

The screen is responsible for displaying the content AMOLEDdiagonal 6.67″ and resolution 1080×2400 pixelsas well as refreshing up to 120 Hertz. The manufacturer also boasts of cameras where the entire set is based on three modules:

  • Main camera: 50MP, f/1.8, OIS;
  • Ultra Wide Angle Camera: 12 megapixels, f/2.2;
  • Selfie Camera: 16 megapixels f/2.4.

It doesn’t specify what maximum resolution the new Solan creation will record at, but the minimum is 4K @ 30 FPS.

The whole thing is supposed to be powered by a cell with a rather poor capacity for a smartphone of this size 4110mAhthat support inductive charging. It is also known that “Essential Phone 2” will measure 164*75.3*8.4mmand his weight will be 247 grams. Probably because the back is supposed to be potteryand the frame of the device should be steel With titanium accents.

There is also space on board for:

  • WiFi 6;
  • Bluetooth 5.2;
  • NFC;
  • dual SIM;
  • Android 13;
  • IP68;
  • USB-C

You will ask when will it appear and how much will it cost?

And I will be happy to answer you. The smartphone is available in advance and booking it costs $100 (approx. PLN 500 excluding VAT). The final cost of buying Solana Saga is the magic amount of $1000 (approx. PLN 5,000 excl. VAT). That’s a staggering amount for a company that “no one knows,” or a spec where you can see savings.

Delivery is scheduled for early 2023. Will it be successful? In my opinion it will (unfortunately) end up like the first Essential Phone, but I might be wrong.

Great promotion: Top performance (12 GB RAM), AMOLED 120 Hz and 150W at a MEGA price!
