For Rivero, who has coached Inter Turku in Finland for the past three seasons, his preferred formation is a rarity 3-4-2-1 styleaccording to transferregistration.
According to the Football Training Guide, a 3-4-2-1 formation uses three defenders, four midfielders, two forwards and one striker.
“This formation also has wingers who can protect the sidelines of the team and support your strikers/forwards in attack,” the guide said.
“However, the formation has only three defenders, which makes it defensively vulnerable.
“Another downside to this formation is that the midfielders need to be highly active in defence.
“It takes a lot of energy and as a midfielder you need to have good stamina and fitness,” The explanation added.
