GeForce RTX 4070Ti – which card should I choose?

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card is now on sale and available in many stores. Let’s check which manufacturers have prepared non-reference models and how much they cost.

Welcome speech

After the premiere of the GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 in a 16 GB version, it was speculated that a “weaker” version of the 4080 with 12 GB of video memory would appear next to the 16 GB model, but the system was finally canceled.

Until the participant in today’s material was announced, that is. The RTX 4070 Ti, which turned out to be nothing more than the newly released RTX 4080 12 GB. Yes, the card has been released under a new, “lower” name, and at a lower suggested price. It’s $799 (was $899) – in Poland it’s PLN 4,499.

In this amount, the system looks like a tasty morsel – due to energy efficiency and performance, it comes close to the much more energy-intensive, former top RTX 3090 Ti.

General specifications of GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

As with other graphics cards, I will first present the general specification of the “forty seventy Ti” discussed today. The system is based on the AD104-400-A1 processor, manufactured on a 4-nm technological process by TSMC in the Ada Lovelace architecture, equipped with 7680 CUDA cores, 60 RT cores, 240 Tensor units and 48 MB L2 cache.

This was paired with 12 GB of GDDR6X VRAM at 21 Gbps on a 192-bit bus, offering a bandwidth of 504.2 GB/s. By default, the system has a TDP = 285 W (recommended power supply is 600 W – one 16-pin plug is required), and the GPU base frequency is 2310 MHz, which goes up to 2610 MHz in boost mode. In terms of connectors, the card has 3x DisplayPort 1.4a and 1x HDMI 2.1.

First, let’s check out how Gainward fares

Gainward is one of those manufacturers that release their cards at really good prices – even in the case of more powerful, overclocked non-references. In stores for 4399 PLN we can buy Gainward GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Phantom Reunion, while the overclocked model Phantom Reunion GS costs 4629 PLN.

The cards are identical to each other – they have the same on-board cooling system, occupying 2.9 slots in the case, with a thick, visible heatsink and three fans – the style lives up to the name, because everything is designed in dark colors. However, there was also RGB backlighting in the form of the card logo on the side.

In the base boost model, the clock frequency increases to 2610 MHz, while in the version with the addition of GS it is already 2760 MHz. It is worth noting that when the card is operating below 60℃, the fans operate in 0dB mode, turning off completely.

However, for those who prefer flashier cards, the right Gainward model will be the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Phoenix (GS). The models have an integrated 3.1-slot cooling system with three fans, which additionally has a lot more RGB lighting on board. The card specs are the same as the Phantom for both the base model and the GS – we have the same GPU frequencies.

The recommended price of the variant with the Phoenix note is 4399 PLN.

Zotac also has a lot to boast about

Zotac has prepared a whole range of similar graphics cards from the 4070 Ti family, but the devil is in the details. The most advanced is the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 Ti AMP Extreme AIRO, which we can currently get for 4999 PLN – it’s one of the fastest and definitely the most beautiful cards on the market, all thanks to the 3.5-slot cooler three fan system.

Not only does this one have a rounded finish, but it also has additional RGB lighting around the edges in the form of LED strips and GeForce RTX lettering – it just looks insane. The whole thing also allows you to achieve high frequencies of the graphics processor, which in boost mode reaches 2700 MHz.

A similar, but slightly less “twisted” model is the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Trinity OC, which is equipped with a much thinner cooling system with 2.5 slots and a finer RGB backlight in the form of a strip on the side panel.

The card still has a rounded finish, but due to the weaker cooling system, the GPU boosts to 2625 MHz. The lower performance goes hand in hand with the lower price because we can buy this model for around 4779 PLN. That is, if it reappears in stores, because a few hours after writing this paragraph, the offer disappeared from the store.

In addition to the Trinity OC model, the manufacturer also released a variant without the addition of OC with a clock frequency of 2610 MHz at a price of about 4699 PLN. It’s the same with the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX AMP AIRO with a 2.5-slot cooling system, working with a GPU clock frequency of up to 2670 MHz in boost mode – perhaps in the near future these models will appear on store shelves. Let’s hope so.

Palit shines with its graphics cards

Among the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Palita, the GameRock model cannot be missing – there are several models here that turn out to be identical to each other. All GameRocks are based on a cooling system occupying 3.2 slots in the case, but this one offers the ability to overclock the GPU to high values.

There are 5 models in total – GameRock, GameRock OC, GameRock Premium, GameRock Classic and GameRock Classic OC, but they differ mainly in clock frequency and appearance. The one labeled Classic has translucent crystals on the case that diffuse the light even better. As for the clock frequencies of these cards, these are the values: 2610, 2775, 2790, 2610 and 2760 MHz respectively.

Palit also prepared the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GamingPro (OC) models. The cards have a completely different cooling system, occupying 3.1 slots, without the characteristic crystals illuminated by RGB diodes – this is an offer for lovers of less flashy configurations.

The card should cost PLN 4399 (PLN 4499 for the OC model), while they are not available for sale at the time of publication of the text.

ASUS surprises with performance … as always

The Taiwanese tech giant is well known for its ROG products that offer the best possible performance and, as we can guess, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti ASUS ROG STRIX GAMING OC was also sold for PLN 5,599. This is almost 1000 PLN more than the price of the “regular” 4070 Ti, but the amount goes hand in hand with the quality.

The manufacturer has used a 3.15-slot cooling system in the card with three fans and a thick heatsink, all enclosed in an extremely cool-looking case with additional RGB lighting.

This one of the most advanced RTX 4070 Ti impresses above all with its performance – it is supposed to be very quiet and at the same time efficient – the GPU in OC mode reaches as much as 2790 MHz. Interestingly, the card also has five rather than four connectors – 2x HDMI 2.1a and 3x DP 1.4a (additional HDMI).

This model was also released in a non-OC version with a clock frequency of 2640 MHz, but in the end we expect the highest performance from ROG.

ASUS also has a slightly cheaper GeForce RTX 4070 Ti TUF GAMING OC model in its portfolio, which can currently be purchased for 4999 PLN. This card has a slightly thicker cooling system on board that will take up 3.25 slots in the case – also with three fans, but its case screams less backlighting and gaming accents, which for some users can be a huge plus.

However, performance is a priority here – the GPU reaches up to 2760 MHz in turbo mode. It is worth noting that the card also has its own non-overclocked version with a clock frequency of 2640 MHz, but at the time of writing this text I could not find it in stores.

What interesting did GIGABYTE show?

GIGABYTE has prepared the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti EAGLE OC, GAMING OC (as well as their non-overclocked versions) and the AERO OC variant with a white finish. All these graphics cards have cooling systems with three fans on board and a thick heatsink.

The cheapest model is Eagle – it costs about 4749 PLN and is characterized by the weakest specification – a boost clock of 2625 MHz and only a subtle backlight in the form of an RGB strip.

Both AERO OC and GAMING OC boost up to 2640 MHz, but the former, due to its white, fine finish and minimal backlight, will be suitable for configurations supported in bright colors.

The GAMING OC also has additional LED strips below the fans that will illuminate the wearer’s computer. The price of the GAMING OC model is a little higher than the EAGLE OC – because 4839 PLN, so paying a few tens of zlotys, we will get much more.

And the AORUS RTX 4070 TI MASTER and ELITE cards could not be missing here. These are actually the same graphics cards, which differ from each other in the clock frequency – respectively – 2670 and 2655 MHz. The price for the Master model? About 5400 PLN.

INNO3D can compete on price

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics cards should start at 4399 PLN, but most models exceed the price barrier by up to several hundred zlotys. The base, non-overclocked INNO3D GeForce RTX 4070 Ti X3 model can be ripped off at this price – we’re getting a well-presented, sleek card with a cooling system that includes three fans.

Of course, this model runs at a base clock frequency of 2610 MHz, but users can also use an overclocked version of the card that speeds up to 2640 MHz.

And for those who want even higher performance and a more gaming look, the INNO3D GeForce RTX 4070 Ti iChill X3 model will work, which has a slightly more advanced cooling system equipped with additional RGB lighting – this should cost around 4700 PLN.

Rounding out today’s lineup is MSI – what’s up with the dragon?

The dragon-signed company has, without much surprise, even prepared several models. The most advanced is the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPRIM X, which, thanks to its cooling system with three fans, accelerates to a clock frequency of 2775 MHz – this one, interestingly, has a rather subtle, but also modern case in silver colors with a minimal amount of RGB backlight. Price? PLN 5299.

In the middle is the GeForce RTX 4070 To Gaming X Trio for 4899 PLN. The card at first glance suggests that it will work best in the player’s computer – RGB backlighting – present! Of course, the system was twisted here to the 2745 MHz clock – the price definitely wins this card, although in the same online store I found a non-overclocked version for 5299 PLN (probably a mistake?), so it’s worth checking the prices.

MSI’s most basic system of the family is the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti VENTUS 3X OC model (and its non-overclocked brother), which costs around PLN 4399 (although its availability is a lottery). Due to the lowest price, the card also offers the weakest specification – the clock in boost mode reaches 2640 MHz, although it cannot be denied that the manufacturer has released a pretty good looking card.

The system, compared to the models above, is much thinner – it occupies a little more than 2 slots, while for the more modern variants you need to prepare more than 3 places in the case.

Let’s summarize

As you can see, there are many non-reference versions of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti – each manufacturer has several models in their offer. Referring to the question in the title, I think the most interesting version is the Gainward Phantom Reunion offering with the addition of GS, because of the price-performance ratio – it offers one of the highest clocks in gain mode and at the same time costs less than PLN 5000.

If I had to go by looks, the obvious choice for me would be the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 Ti AMP Extreme AIRO. However, if performance was the most important thing, I would choose the ASUS ROG Strix or the AORUS GIGABYTE Master model.
