Golden and crispy onion pancakes by Ewa Wachowicz. A traditional dish for frugal people

Onion fritters are a perfect idea if you don’t want to spend tens of zlotys on dinner. The dish prepared according to the recipe of Ewa Wachowicz will turn out to be truly amazing in taste.

Although the most popular version of pancakes is the potato version, it is not the only vegetable that can be used to make a delicious dinner this way. Onions are also perfect. It will be an ideal offer for a tasty, cheap and quick meal for the whole family.

Onion Pancakes by Eva Wachowicz

Required components:

  • 3 large onions
  • dill
  • a pinch of sugar
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • clarified butter for frying
  • 2 eggs
  • 4-5 tablespoons of flour.

Pan 28 cm

Method of preparation:

  1. First, clean the onion, then cut it into small cubes.
  2. Pour into a bowl, season with pepper, sugar and salt.
  3. Mix everything thoroughly and put it in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add finely chopped fennel to the onion. Also add the eggs, flour and one clove of garlic pressed with a press.
  5. Mix everything well.
  6. Fry the pancakes on both sides in hot butter.
  7. After frying, drain them from excess fat with a paper towel.

How to serve onion fritters?

Onion pancakes can be served with sour cream or thick yogurt. Sprinkling them with sugar is also an interesting idea. Such pancakes are perfect both as an addition to dishes and as a separate dish.

If you want them to be less caloric, refuse to fry them in fat. Just do it right in a Teflon-lined pan.
