Health has confirmed the country’s first monkey death from smallpox

The Ministry of Health confirmed today the first monkey death in Brazil. The death was registered yesterday uberlandia: (MG). The patient was a man with low immunity.

The most recent bulletin of the folder states that the country has already registered 1,066 cases, of which 823 are in the state of São Paulo alone. There are also 124 diagnoses in Rio de Janeiro; 44 in Minas Gerais; 21 in Parana; 15 in the federal district; 13 in Goyas; 5 in Bahia; 4 in Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Ceará; 3 in Pernambuco; 2 in Espirito Santo and Rio Grande do Norte; and 1 in Acre and Tocantins.

Since last weekend, the disease has been considered a global health emergency by the WHO. More than 18,000 cases have been confirmed worldwide in 78 countries.
