São Paulo is suffering from heavy rains in recent weeks

São Paulo suffered again with heavy rain this Saturday, the 11th. Paulista Metropolitan Train Company (CPTM) reported that the 10-turquoise line was paralyzed for more than an hour between São Caetano do Sul and Santo André stations on the line, which crosses the ABC region, due to a flood. In the capital of Sao Paulo, Fire Department received ten calls for flash flooding and another seven for downed trees in about an hour – no injuries so far. The most affected regions were Vila Prudente and Sapopemba, both located in the Eastern Zone. Previously, Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB-SP) had already monitored the situation in Moema, one of the neighborhoods most affected by the floods in recent days – an 88-year-old woman drowned in the region.

For the next few days, the forecast is for more rain in the capital of São Paulo, including a heavy rain warning. According to Clima Tempo, the weekend will be marked by “very unstable weather”. A new cold front advances off the coast of São Paulo and the action of a cyclonic vortex at high levels, favoring the formation of thunderclouds over the state of São Paulo. Throughout the weekend, conditions point to frequent showers in Greater São Paulo – with thunderstorms at any time and at various times of the day. “There are conditions for the accumulation of large volumes that can bring floods, river floods and landslides. In addition, there are conditions for lightning and strong wind gusts that may also cause branches and trees to fall,” Clima Tempo said in a note.
