“He’s LeBron. James?” Jon Jones shot the comparison. Jordan-LeBron before UFC 285
Jon Jones has yet to sack Ciryl Gane ahead of the pair’s heavyweight championship fight this Saturday at UFC 285.
“Bones” has consistently praised the French heavyweight’s footwork. especially while questioning his cardio Which is a pretty good standard before the fight.
He seemed a little surprised, however, that during Thursday’s UFC 285 pre-fight press conference, Gane was LeBron James to Jones’ Michael Jordan, the next generation of talent facing arguably the greatest of all time.
“LeBron James of Ciryl? he is lebron Is it James?” Jones asked, slightly startled. “He got LeBron status. How did James do it?”
Gane has previously fought for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. and is a former interim champion in promotion Still, it would be difficult to sell him the title as MMA’s LeBron, Jones’ sentiment echoed.
“You overheard Ciryl talking about wanting to win this fight to consider the goat. It doesn’t work like that,” Jones said. “It doesn’t work like that.”
While last year’s Jones (or Jon Jones’s Twitter) might have more to say But Jones took the high road Thursday.
“I’m honored that people see me as an athlete of that level. It means the whole world to me. And my job is to try to be as humble as possible. Keep working hard, stay focused and let people decide who Jordan is. who is lebron and stuff like that,” he said. “I will continue to work hard. I will give glory to God And I will continue to do my best. That always works for me.”
Earlier in the press conference where everyone from Jones to Bo From Nical to Chafkat Rachmonov, Jones told Cageside Press that he felt a higher power was behind his success.
“I really believe he has a part in my life. I really do. Talented and gifted by God,” Jones said.
Jon Jones returns after a three-year absence to face Ciryl Gane in the vacant UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 285 on Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
