Every year, many garden and plot owners get rid of dry leaves and branches by burning them on their property. However, before we light a fire on the plot or in the garden, it is worth checking what the regulations say about it. Few of us know that burning leaves and branches can reduce the wallet by up to PLN 5,000. We advise on the best way to get rid of green waste in order to avoid high fines and inconvenience.
Independent burning of green waste in the home garden or in the garden is a topic that causes a lot of controversy in autumn and spring. Many people do this out of habit and do not question whether the practice is legal. However, the current regulations for 2022 make it clear that both burning of branches and leaves is prohibited and threatens because of it a fine of up to PLN 5,000. The Code of Misdemeanors precisely prescribes the type and amount of penalties.
– § 1. Whoever disturbs the peace, public order, night rest or causes trouble in a public place by yelling, noise, alarm or other jokes, will be punished with imprisonment (from 5 to 30 days), restriction of freedom (lasts 1 month) or a fine (between 20 PLN and 5000 PLN). Failure to comply with the provisions of the Act may result in a fine of up to PLN 5,000 – Art. 54 misdemeanor law.
