How is the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor built? It’s almost a Ryzen 9 7950X

The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor is the weakest representative of new models for AM5 motherboards. Overclocker der8auer took a look at how the new unit is made – it might come as a surprise to some.

We recently had the opportunity to test the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor – this is the weakest representative of the Raphael generation for AM5 motherboards. The system is quite in the middle of the performance scale.

Is the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor a departure from the Ryzen 9 7950X?

We are interested in the specifications of the unit. The Ryzen 5 7600X is equipped with 6 cores and 12 threads – this specification indicates the use of one CCD silicon core with Zen 4 core and one cIOD silicon core with interfaces.

AMD Ryzen 7000 processors are based on a chip-based design – systems use one or two CCD cores with cores (8 Zen 4 cores each) and one cIOD core with interfaces

It turns out that the producer had a different idea here …

Overclocker Roman “der8auer” Hartung decided to check how the new model was built and removed the heat radiator from it (the so-called delidding). If you’re interested in the effects, check out the video below.

The verified Ryzen 5 7600X (shop art) uses two silicon cores with cores, but only one of them is active (the other is turned off). It is interesting that the 8-core model Ryzen 7 7700X uses only one such core. Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 9 7950X naturally use two chips (chipsets have 12 and 16 cores, respectively).

Why is the Ryzen 5 7600X equipped with two cores? It can be suspected that it is a jerk of the Ryzen 9 7900X or Ryzen 9 7950X models that did not meet the specifications and were rejected by the manufacturer during internal tests. In order not to waste processors, the unit is released as Ryzen 5 7600X. It is not known if all 7600X units sold use dual CCD kernels.
