Former judge and now senator Sergio Moro (Podemos-PR) has been nominated to join the CCJ of the Senate, the chamber’s most important panel.

In addition to analyzing the constitutionality of the bills, the CC is also responsible for evaluating the nominations of the Ministers of Defense. Lula’s government will have the right to appoint replacements for Ricardo Lewandowski and Rosa Weber, who will retire in 2023.

Moreau will also sit on the Public Safety (CSP) and Transparency, Governance, Oversight and Consumer Protection (CTFC) committees.
