Ibercaja gives the green light for the establishment of three directors at the general meeting

The extraordinary general meeting of Ibercaja shareholders, held this Friday, unanimously approved the re-election of Enrique Arrufat as outside proprietary director and Pilar Segura as independent director, as well as appointment of three new directors, Natividad Blasco de las Heras, María Luisa García Blanco and María López Valdés. In June, Ibercaja’s board of directors already proposed the establishment of these three new directors to replace Jesús Bueno Arrese (Vice President), Gabriela González-Bueno and Jesús Solchaga Loitegui, who resigned from their position due to age and personal reasons.

Appointment three new directors come after it received a favorable assessment from the competent supervisory authorities. Natividad Blasco de las Heras and María Luisa García Blanco will approach as outside equity directorson the proposal of the Ibercaja Banking Foundation, while María López Valdés will be an independent director.

Natividad Blasco de las Heras is an economist and professor at the University of Zaragoza in the field of financial economics and accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business. Expert for international financial markets, also since 2018. is a member of the Technical Advisory Board (CAT) of the Ibex index. He presided over the Economic and Social Council of Aragon between 2011 and 2015, and was previously a member of the Control Commission of Ibercaje, between 2006 and 2011. María López Valdés is a mathematician and holds a PhD in Computer Science and Systems Engineering from the University of Zaragoza. Founding partner and CEO of Bitbrain Technologies, he has professional experience in academic and research fields. In 2017, he took fifth place in the list of 100 economic leaders of the future in Spain (for under 40 years) by the prestigious Choiseul Institute.
