Jim, Chirwa re-elected as NUMSA general secretary and president respectively – My Crush Live News

National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) general secretary Irwin Jim and union president Andrew Chirwa were re-elected to their positions unopposed at the union’s national conference in Cape Town.

More than 1,000 delegates are attending the conference at the International Convention Center.

KwaZulu-Natal Regional Secretary Mbuso Ngubane is the Deputy Secretary-General, Mac Chawalala is the First Vice-President and Puleng Phaka of the Northern Cape is the Second Vice-President.

The National Treasurer is Phumzi Maqungo.

All regions fielded candidates. The conference is expected to end on Friday.

Earlier on Wednesday, members of the Western Cape region walked out of the conference. This comes after a court order was issued on Saturday to stop the gathering.
