Tomorrow evening, the NFL returns to claim its sixth ticket for the 2022 season, and the women’s lightweight division as well as the welterweight division are in the limelight. Tomorrow night tops defending two-time PFL Lightweight Champion Kayla Harrison (13-0).
Originally, Harrison was set to face former Bellator champion Julia Budd. Budd was brought up for promotion to give Harrison some legit competition and it was a fight the PFL wanted to put together. However, Budd had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury.
As a result, Harrison will now face Kaitlyn Young (12-12-1) in the main event. Yes, you read this log correctly. However, it should be noted that Kaitlin Young has been up there with plenty of quality competition including Julia Budd.
In the PFL, it was 1-2 by defeating Cindy Dandoa. However, she will be a huge underdog tomorrow night as she looks to take down Harrison. Kayla Harrison kicked off the 2022 season by defeating Marina El Makhanna.
This was only the third time since her professional MMA debut that Harrison went to the scorecards. Not many expect this fight in PFL 6 to hit the scorecards, and I personally don’t think it will.
In the co-main event, Welter Whites will meet Rory MacDonald (23-8-1) and Sadibo C (10-6-2). MacDonald will try to book the top seed in the 2022 PFL playoffs while Sy will look to get out of the sheer malaise.
MacDonald earned the submission win on his first appearance in the PFL season against Brett Cooper. It has cut short a losing streak for MacDonald who is now 2-2 since joining the promotion. Sy won by split decision on his debut of the 2022 season, but is a formidable underdog on his way to tomorrow night’s fight.
Speaking of Brett Cooper, he will face former PFL Champion Ray Cooper III. Cooper III saw his PFL winning streak with six fights when he lost to Carlos Leal to start the 2022 season.
It was a terrible night for the former champ as he lost weight and then took control. However, he’s back as a villain looking to show that it was just a coincidence. There are other really strong matches tomorrow night like Larissa Pacheco and Gina Fabian. It should be a solid night in the PFL Smart Cage.
