Kodai Senga is seen throwing after getting scratched from the start
Shortly after he was pulled from a start he was scheduled to start on Saturday, New York Mets pitcher Kodai Senga was spotted throwing on Monday morning. Safe to say, for a Mets that had some injuries in spring training, an encouraging update on Senga.
New York Mets SP Kodai Senga seems to be doing fine:
Senga had to be pulled from his scheduled start on Saturday. He had an injured finger and was in some discomfort. The Mets elected to be careful and scratched him from the start. Singha ended up with tendinitis in his right index finger and was sentenced to a day.
Buck Showalter told the media Saturday that they were just being careful. If it had been a regular season game, Senja would have been fine. Senga also told reporters yesterday that he expects to be ready for his first scheduled start of the 2023 regular season for the Mets.
This morning, SNY shared a video of Senga throwing up. According to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, Senga threw a flat grounder from nearly 90 feet—sure, an encouraging update on the Mets’ explosive slam dunk.
Senga is poised to take on a very key role in the Mets’ 2023 rotation. He’s slated to be the third baseman and this team will need him since the start of the season.
In his first start in spring training, Senga showed why he promised so much. Whether it was due to the heat or his forkball court, Senga showed his talent in his debut last week, hitting two hits in two innings.
If Senga can get comfortable against major league hitters fairly early on and live up to his big potential, that gives this Mets team a much higher ceiling. In the end, it’s nice to see Senga hurl briefly after pulling him off the start. Hopefully he continues to make progress, because this Mets team will need him.
