Silvia Schmidt, the former coach of the women’s handball team at Königsborner SV, has passed away at the age of just 66.
The handball players of Königsborner SV are mourning the death of their former coach Silvia Schmidt, who died in mid-July at the age of 66 after a long and serious illness.
Silvia Schmidt took over at Koenigsborner SV in 2002
Schmidt took over as coach of the women’s handball team at Königsborner SV in the regional league from coach Iris Düllmann in 2002 and had to create a new team after the withdrawal of six established players.
In 2005, this development work was crowned with the new promotion to the regional league with KSV ladies. In 2006 she also qualified for the regional league with KSV women’s A-Youth, at that time the highest German league.
Former player in the goal of BVB
But Schmidt was also successful as a coach before that and was even promoted to the second Bundesliga with Teutonia Riemke in 1997. As an active player he was in goal for the respective first division teams in SC Greven and Borussia Dortmund.
Professionally, Schmidt worked as a steel construction engineer until she retired three years ago.
