Launch of Amazfit GTR Mini, a small round smartwatch
The Amazfit brand needs no introduction to anyone. Its domain is wearables, and the offer is complemented by a wide range of models – including the GTR and GTS series. Today, the first one has been expanded with a compact version. Meet the Amazfit GTR Mini.
Round and smaller, finally
The Amazfit GTS series of smart watches differs from the round GTR not only in the shape of the case, but also in the presence of a Mini version. At a time when lovers of angular dials could enjoy a smaller and cheaper version of flagships, fans of a more classic look were doomed to regular sizes.
That changes today with the launch of the Amazfit GTR Mini, which features a 1.28-inch AMOLED screen with a choice of over 80 watch faces. The display is further embedded under a slightly curved glass, similar to the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro. The case is 9.25mm thick and weighs 24.6g, so it’s light and slim. The width is 42 mm, which does not make the GTR Mini a much smaller smartwatch than the competition, but simply a compact version of the GTR series models.
It’s closer to a three than a four
Looking at the renders, one can come to the conclusion that the new compact “smart watch” of the Chinese brand relates its design more to the older GTR 3 than to the Amazfit GTR 4. Surprisingly, the fourth generation is the latest one . On the other hand, the Mini variant emphasizes thinness and compactness and is favored by the minimalist design of the “troika”. Therefore, all the edges are well rounded, and a button is located on the side of the case.
According to the manufacturer’s declarations, the cell installed inside with a capacity of 280 mAh allows 14 days of operation in standard use and up to 20 days with the battery saving mode turned on. This is a great result, especially if we compare it to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5.
As befits an Amazfit, there’s also something for the active
It’s nothing new that smartwatches are packed with sensors that monitor our health and exercise patterns. It’s no different with the GTR Mini, which offers 24/7 monitoring of heart rate, stress and even blood oxygen.
In addition, there are over 120 built-in sports modes, as well as automatic recognition of seven sports. Thanks to this, Amazfit GTR Mini will be perfect for the wrist of a person who wants to control his health and condition. In addition, the 5 ATM water resistance class allows you to use the smartwatch during water activities.
There was also GPS support, which in the case of this device is to receive almost twice as many satellite signals and track them with increased accuracy. The smartwatch owes this to Amazfit’s patented circular polarization GPS antenna technology.
Availability and price
Amazfit GTR Mini, in addition to its more compact dimensions, can also boast of a lower price than its larger brothers. It costs PLN 619, which is almost twice as much as the GTR 4. There are three color versions to choose from: Midnight Black, Misty Pink and Ocean Blue.
This smartwatch looks like a really promising option for people who like the GTR models but would prefer a slightly smaller envelope. How do you feel about this device? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
