Linton Vassell wants to win the title. Two-time defending champion and “Go On My Merry Way”

Linton Vassell got his revenge and won a spot at Bellator 292 on Friday.

Wassel, former light heavyweight champion contender in Bellator Now stepping up to the heavyweight division with five wins in a row, his most recent victory came with Valentin Modovski’s ground-and-pound finish in a bout that saw C. Their careers were tied 1-1.

It was a huge victory that gave him another chance to fight Ryan Bader, whom he lost in a challenge for the light heavyweight title. Bader is now Bellator’s reigning heavyweight king. which caused a new wrinkle in this competition

Either way, Vassell (23-8, 1NC) concurred with a win over Moldavsky, the biggest title of his career.

“I will say yes. One because of the way I did it and two, it was a very special fight. Because he is the number one challenger. And it was a rematch,” Vassell explained after the fight. “So I have these two things in my mind.”

“To be honest, it wasn’t playing in my mind. It’s as if ‘I can’t lose him again!’ Because I’m 39 now, so it’s not like ‘I can’t lose him anymore!’ ‘I’ll go see him next time.’ It was something like, ‘Next time I won’t catch you. And I’m not going to fight for the belt’ Yeah, it’s the icing on the cake to win. and win the way I do.”

Of course, the 39 is the new 29 when it comes to heavyweight. which the career must go on for a long time And power will eventually fade. Cheick Kongo performed last year at age 48, Champ Bader at 39.

“I really feel like I have a few years left. i won’t do it forever But win that belt, that’s the plan, and defend it a few times,” Vassell said to that face. “Then I can put down my shoes, put on my gloves, and go my merry way.”
