Lula flirts with customs as she recovers Bolsonaro’s speech

Despite devoting some time to the topic, former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) soon tried to get out of his opponent’s territory.

The customs agenda once again gained importance in the debate with the presidential candidates of the republic presented by TV Globo this Friday, the 28th, and abortion became a central issue. Despite spending some time on the topic, former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) soon tried to get out of his opponent’s territory. “In the next block, I will start talking about the government’s plan,” said the PA, when the discussion began to drag on.

The former president, however, was the one who put the discussions on the table, reviving the speech of his opponent, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in 1992, where he defended the distribution of “abortion pills”.

“30 years ago” Bolsonaro defended himself, claiming that the speech was old and he could change. The president then criticized Lula’s defense that abortion should be a public health issue. “You’re an abortionist Lula, you’re a staunch abortionist,” the president said.

Lula responded by saying she was against abortion. “I respect life,” he said. “If you want to blame someone for abortion, blame yourself, because that doesn’t suit me,” he continued.

Bolsonaro continued the criticism and, weighing more on the ideological discourse, criticized Lula for advocating gender “ideology” and drug liberalization. It was at this point that Lula decided to leave the enemy’s domain to focus his speech on the government’s plan.
