Magaka’s murder trial to resume on Tuesday – SABC News

The four men accused of murdering former ANC Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaka are expected back in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.

Sbonelo Mieza, Mbulelo Mpofana, Mlungisi Nkalane and alleged killer Sibusiso Nsengwa are accused of murdering Magaka in 2017.

On Monday, the matter was adjourned to allow one of the accused, Mlungisi Ncalane, to be sent for psychiatric evaluation.

Ncalane is expected back in court on Tuesday. His legal team asked the court to assess his fitness to stand trial.

Another suspect, Sibusiso Nsengwa, is expected to join the other three suspects.

Nsengwa was not present in court on Monday. It is believed that the state was initially unable to locate the prison where he was held.

However, later in the day, state prosecutor Lawrence Gkaba told Judge Kate Pillai they had established that Nsengwa was being held at Kokstad Correctional Services Prison in southern KwaZulu-Natal.
