Mario Bautista Calls Cody Grabrandt, Top 15 Fight

LAS VEGAS, NV — UFC bantamweight Mario Bautista wants to continue his top-15 bout after finishing off Guido Cannetti by submitting at UFC Las Vegas on Saturday night.

“I think I’ll be in the top 15 after (Brian) Kelleher, then I get Benito (Lopez), then Guido. I am doing what I should have done to beat these guys in the first round,” Bautista told reporters, including Cageside Press, in his post-fight fight.

“Finally, I opened my mouth to ask for the top 15. Most of these guys were paired up. So if not top 15 pick Cody Garbrandt.”

As far as Cannetti struggles, Bautista says don’t try to be tricked into bickering with the Argentinian and instead stick to his game plan.

“I won’t let my ego take over me. and risk getting knocked out like his last two opponents Otherwise it’s over. Tap, tap, go to that takedown and start putting it on him. (It’s the game plan),” he said.

Former Bantamweight Champion Garbrandt was about to win a decision at UFC 285 about a week ago. And it’s a target for fighters looking for rankings.

“Like the former champion I think he’s going in a different direction than his fighting style. It showed against Trevin Jones, I think I could pull it off of him. And I think I can make it an exciting fight,” he said.
