Masango: PSL clubs overestimated what Keiser Chiefs want

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Masango said that while the Chiefs need at least two strikers to bolster their squad in January, the PSL side are reluctant to sell to the Soweto giants.

In his own words, Masango said the PSL teams overestimated their players once the Chiefs showed interest in them.

For example, Masango would have liked to see Teboho Mokoena Moved from Super Sports United to the Chiefs, but he felt he was too expensive.

Of course, Mokoena did leave SuperSport United, but it was Mamelodi Sundowns who won the race to sign him in January 2022.

“The problem is that clubs overestimate the price of players when they deal with the Chiefs. For example, I would like them to sign Tebogo Mokoena, but he is too expensive,” Masango told reporters.

Baxter admits MOKOENA and MBULE are too expensive for KAIZER leadership

In August 2021, then Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter admitted that while he would have no problem working with Sipho Mbule and Mokoena, they were too expensive.

Masango echoed the sentiment as the Chiefs continue to struggle to sign their target.

“They’re not my players, they’re pretty expensive players. I’m not sure we can get into the market at this level at the moment,” Baxter told SA FM at the time.

“But they are both talented lads, I know them very well and I won’t have any problems working with them in the future.”
