Mets re-sign official Adam Ottavino
While all New York Mets fans are eagerly awaiting the official agreement with one of their key players, Carlos Correa, the team is finalizing other business. They just re-signed another important asset officer.
It was first reported a week ago that the Mets had agreed to a contract with right-handed starting relief pitcher, Adam Ottavino. The Mets just announced the signing of a done deal.
The Mets have officially re-signed their starting bullpen arm in Adam Ottavino:
One interesting point to make a note here. When the news first broke seven days ago, it was reported as a two-year contract (worth $14.5 million) between the Mets and Ottavino that included pulling out after this year. As indicated in the tweet attached above, the Mets are announcing a one-year deal with a player option for 2024.

In correspondence with Ottavino’s transfer official, the crowded and well-documented 40-man roster for the Mets was necessary to make room for some time. The Mets designated right relief pitcher William Woods for the assignment.
With Ottavino now back, the Mets have their second best reliever of 2022, along with their best in Edwin Diaz, re-signed along with some impressive build-ups. The Mets have actively sought to help the bullpen throughout the offseason. Whether it’s the signing of David Robertson or the Brooks Raleigh deal, the Mets have certainly done their best to improve on their biggest fear from last season.
The four best players in the wrestling ring Diaz, Robertson, Raleigh and Ottavino give the Mets plenty of relief. Maybe they can still add another arm with some depth in the free agent market. If so, they fortify their comfortable spotter to a greater extent.
With Ottavino specifically, he had a great 2022 with a 2.06 ERA. The Mets will need another big year out of him.
