New laptop GPUs on the way. Will there be a GeForce RTX 4090?

Soon, Nvidia is expected to reveal the first official information about the GeForce RTX 40 series for laptops. It looks like there will be plenty of surprises, especially in the context of top GPUs.

We are fresh after the premiere of Nvidia’s first next-gen graphics chip – GeForce RTX 4090, and we will soon see the launch of another GPU in the form of RTX 4080. However, this only applies to the segment of desktop computers, because people expect laptop systems need to be patient.

The wait, however, need not be long. There’s a slot in the network for Nvidia’s supposedly official presentation, showcasing the initial schedule in the context of portable systems.

Five suggestions to get started. He’s an (un)expected recruit

It says the start of the “green” camp can offer up to five GPUs, based on four different graphics cores. The biggest surprise is the appearance for the first time of the mobile equivalent of the RTX xx90 system.

I’m talking more specifically about the GeForce RTX 4090which is to use the AD103 core. Next up is the GeForce RTX 4080 Ti based on the AD104 core, while the GeForce RTX 4070 will take advantage of the AD106 chip. The last two GPUs mentioned – RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 – will use the same AD107 architecture.

Additionally, there is also specific information suggesting the power demand of the three most powerful next-gen mobile GPUs. TGP GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 Ti will be 175W, while in the case of RTX 4070 it will be 140W.

Of course, these revelations should be treated with some reserve – the most striking thing is the absence of the base model GeForce RTX 4080which will certainly be offered by Nvidia. It can also be expected that sooner or later the portfolio of this concern will also include the base GPU in the form of the RTX 4050.

We are waiting for details

An important question is when we will officially hear about new mobile graphics for the first time. There are plenty of indications that it might not happen until early next year, during CES 2023.
