Ntsiki Mazwai sees black South Africans not in touch with Lalela

Last night, Friday 15 June, South Africans had reason to celebrate after Lalela Mswane was crowned Miss Supranational 2022.

The reigning Miss South Africa 2021 has made South Africa proud after leaving Poland with the coveted crown.

Lalela became the first South African to win the title.

The disconnect between Laleila and South Africa

Although her name is well known on social media and tops trending lists, poet Ntsiki Mazwai feels there is a disconnect between Laleila and her fans in the country.

“I want to understand why black South Africans don’t connect with Lalela…it just doesn’t happen,” she asked in a tweet.

Ntsiki also questioned Lalela’s victory as she was considered the most popular by the media.

“Now we don’t know if supernatural is being used to sanitize Israel and further drive white interest in SA,” she pored over.

She went on to defend herself, saying: “These pageants are very political…they are used for political reasons”.

A few words from the new Miss Supranational

Laleila’s comments after winning the title.

“With this crown, I carry the hopes and dreams of women past and future. Proof that no dream is too small, no journey to conquer. May it keep reminding you that your feet will bring you to your heart anywhere you desire.

Thank you @misssupranational for trusting me with this crown. I look forward to making this year a truly incredible one. “

“My beloved @official_misssa, South Africa and the Lali team, your love keeps me going and I’m so grateful. We did it Mzansi!!! 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦,”
