Nvidia should have lowered the prices of the GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards. However, the matter is not as simple as it seems and it is worth clarifying a few things.
New Nvidia cards have debuted in recent weeks – these are high-end builds that dominate the performance charts. The reception of the card was…different. The GeForce RTX 4090 is an excellent proposition for the most demanding customers, while the GeForce RTX 4080 has been heavily criticized for its unprofitable valuation.
Nvidia lowers prices of GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 cards?
Industry media began to heat up the topic of card price reductions in Germany – in the case of the GeForce RTX 4090 model, the proposed price dropped from 1,949 to 1,859 euros, and in the case of the GeForce RTX 4080 from 1,469 to 1,399 euros.
That’s it changes in western countries and result from a more favorable exchange rate of the euro against the dollar. These are only exchange rate differences, but the costs of production, transport, logistics, etc. have not changed. So far, there is no chance that Nvidia will lower the recommended prices of the cards in dollars.
It is worth adding that this is a “recommended price”, but in fact it is the manufacturers and stores who ultimately determine the prices of the products. This means that new cards can be sold below or above that amount (a lot depends on the design – PCB upgrades, cooling, accessories, etc.).
The GeForce RTX 4080 is actually starting to get cheaper
GeForce RTX 4080 has a recommended price of PLN 7,049 here, but you can find offers below PLN 7,000 in big stores. Therefore, you can see small discounts from manufacturers / stores – this is good news, because the equipment is more attractive to customers. In the case of the more powerful GeForce RTX 4090, the recommended price is set at PLN 9,699, but the availability of cards is limited, and most of the sold versions have a price of more than PLN 10,000.
