We continue to monitor two riots in the Atlantic. One has little chance of development and moves away from Florida. Our primary goal is a breakdown near the Yucatan Peninsula with a high (80%) chance of becoming a tropical depression Alex or a tropical storm Alex within the next two days.
Our latest prediction models suggest that the center of the system is likely to track South Florida.
Fortunately, there is a great consensus that it will remain on the weak side. About half of our models are bringing this system into a tropical storm, none of which will strengthen it into a hurricane.
Regardless of the track or strength, expect rainy and gusty weather from Friday evening. In addition, isolated and weak tornadoes may be present during several of these storms.
This will NOT become a major hurricane. Isolated floods will be the main risk of this fast-moving system.
