Pretoria police arrested on suspicion of rape
Pretoria police allegedly took the 15-year-old girl to various taverns in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, “for a fun evening”, according to the Independent Police Investigation Service (IPID).
As the couple were on their way to the last tavern, the victim reportedly passed out after drinking the drink the suspect gave her.
“When she regained consciousness, she found that the police were busy raping her. After the ordeal, the suspect sent her to her neighborhood,” said IPID spokeswoman Lizzy Suping.
In an unrelated incident in August, a 45-year-old detective attached to Kei Mouth Police Station in the Eastern Cape was arrested on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl in his office.
The victim stabbed the suspect in the arm with a broken bottle before fleeing and reporting the incident to members of a nearby community service center.
