This smartphone will have two versions. We will charge one with 150W and the other with 240W.
We are talking about the latest realme smartphone – the GT Neo5 model. The device will be presented on January 5 at 2:30 p.m.
In general, the subsequent premieres of smartphones have ceased to cause much excitement, except perhaps for Apple or Samsung devices. There are simply too many and too often. But from time to time you can find something interesting or original in this thicket. And certainly important from a user point of view.
And so it will be next Thursday. Realme is then to present the GT Neo5 model in two versions. The first of them will have a 5000 mAh battery and 150 W charging. The second – a smaller 4600 mAh battery and 240 W charging.
How many to a hundred?
The manufacturer has not yet disclosed details about the charging time. But OPPO betrayed them some time ago. As you know, both brands (plus a few others like vivo or OnePlus) belong to the Chinese BBK. And it was OPPO that boasted that it was the first to develop a technology that enables charging with a power of 240W. According to the graphics shown at the time, charging the 4500 mAh battery should take 9 minutes.
For comparison, charging the 150W realme GT Neo3 charger takes less than a quarter of an hour. So we get about 1/3 of this time.
Of course, two questions arise. The first is security, the second is battery life.
OPPO assured that thanks to the use of special technologies (Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing) and a processor responsible only for battery management, its capacity will be maintained at 80 percent. even after 1600 cycles. The standard for batteries is 800 cycles.
In terms of safety – the charger should have been equipped with an intelligent control system that controls voltage, current, temperature and its condition (eg damage by external factors).
Most likely, we will see the same security in the realme charger.
Does this loading make sense?
On the one hand, it certainly is, because we often want to recharge our smartphone quickly, and even a few percent of the battery is valuable to us. And here we can have hundreds of them in a short time. Just for this to happen, we have to charge it with the appropriate charger.
On the other hand, the difference of a few minutes compared to 150W charging is not big. It is therefore important that the battery condition does not suffer from such fast charging. If so, then in my opinion the game is not worth the candle.
However, if we have ever used a smartphone with fast charging and now own a Samsung, Pixel or iPhone, we can appreciate the benefits of this technology.
What else is known about the GT Neo5?
The smartphone is supposed to have a 6.7-inch OLED display and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The main lens is a 50MP Sony IMX890 with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. There will also be a wide-angle shot and a macro, the selfie should be 16 MP. The processor used is Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in UFS 3.1 memory. The fingerprint reader is located under the display.
