realme wants to be like Samsung and Huawei but not like Apple
From smartphones to smartwatches, tablets, TWS headphones and even TVs. realme is expanding its portfolio of devices more and more. So it’s time for a debut in a new category that should push him closer to the top.
realme lacks one to be happy
Among budding Android-based smartphone makers, it’s common for a company to start with smartphones in a certain price range, only to expand the list with more expensive and/or cheaper models over time. OnePlus started with “flagship killers” and Xiaomi with the Mi series. realme for started with cheap devices, where it was in vain to look for top mobile systems of Qualcomm or MediaTek.
A few years passed and in addition to another realme with numbers, the GT series appeared, where you can find much better components. Not only that, the company can surprise in the technological field, as seen by the GT 3 model with fast charging 240 W. The manufacturer has obviously decided that it is time to go to the next level and catch up with companies like Samsung or Huawei. how?
The boss asks: what foldable smartphone do you want?
The official account of Madhav Sheth, president of realme, asked a simple and very revealing question on Twitter: “What do you want next… #realmeFlip or #realmeFold?” When we add to this the statement of the vice president of realme China, Xu Qi, who mentioned that the company is working on a foldable smartphone, it turns out that the manufacturer is preparing an answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 or the Huawei P50 pocket.
Will foldable devices from the Chinese manufacturer bear names like those on Twitter? Looking at the creativity of the industry in this matter (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, vivo X Fold, Tecno Phantom V Fold …), it is not completely out of the question. Much more interesting is whether such a declaration means that the first announcements and the disclosure of the secret will soon begin.
With each passing week, it turns out that the predicted doubling of the number of foldable devices delivered to the market in 2023 compared to the previous one is becoming more and more real. It’s a shame the competition hasn’t been heated up by the competitive Android ecosystem so far. After all, there’s no telling how much longer we’ll have to wait for the first foldable iPhone.
