Resignation already in August. Pope Francis denied

After Pope Francis summoned cardinals from all over the world to Rome, rumors of his resignation began to circulate. Now the pontiff has commented on this. But one question remains.

Pope Francis has denied rumors of his expected resignation in August. “It never crossed my mind,” the leader of the Catholic Church said in an interview with Reuters news agency.

The speculation came as Francis summoned cardinals from around the world to Rome in late August for the conclave that elects the pope, and plans to visit L’Aquila, Italy, home to Pope Celestine V. buried He was the first pope in history to resign during his lifetime.

Pope Francis. Has not had cancer

However, it is no secret that Pope Francis may resign one day. The condition for that would be that he would no longer be able to hold office due to his health. “We don’t know,” he answered when he thought it would happen. “God will say that.”

Francis also revealed the fact that the cancer was discovered about a year ago during an operation on his colon. The operation was successful, said the Argentine. He was never told anything about cancer. He dismissed the rumors as schoolyard gossip.

The pontiff is currently suffering from knee pain, due to which he had to postpone his visit to Africa, which was planned for early July. He said the pain stems from a small knee fracture he suffered when he tripped while suffering from ligament inflammation. However, he does not want to undergo surgery, because he had side effects from the anesthetic after the previous surgery. “I’m getting better and better,” Francis said.
