Sex education should not be confused with early sexualization, says Renan Quinalha

Brazil recorded almost 46,000 cases of rape of vulnerable people in 2021, according to the 2022 Brazil Public Security Yearbook. A CNN expert In Human Rights and Diversity, Renan Quinalha explained the importance of sexuality education as a means of combating sexual violence against minors.

“Sex education cannot be confused with early sexualization,” he explained. A recent poll shows that around 90% of the population believe that information prevents abuse.

Quinalha explained that sex education consists of imparting scientific information in an appropriate manner for each age group. “Precisely to identify and avoid situations of violence, unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.”
