Sony World Photography Wards 2023 – Poles among the awardees

Here are the results of the second round of this year’s competition Sony World Photography Awards. In mid-February, we met the finalists of the professional section that evaluates photo series, and now the jury presented the winners of the single section (Open), whose works were chosen from more than 200,000. remarks.

Choosing the final was definitely not easy. The best photographs were selected from each of the 10 competition categories (Architecture, Creative, Landscape, life style, Movement, The natural world and wildlife, object, portrait, street photography and travel), and more than 100 other photos made it to the final list. Poles among the meritorious

Considering the number of applications, even the difference in the SWPA competition is a considerable improvement. And this year, no fewer than 7 Polish photographers won. Among the 100 award-winning authors were: Mariola Glajcar (especially in the category Creative), Kinga’s grandson (especially in the category Creative), Marcin Zając (distinction in the Landscape category), Sandra Mickiewicz (special photo in the category), Barbara Iwinska (difference in the Street Photography category), Pawel Jagiello (special trip in the Travel category) and Mateusz Żurowski (honorable mention in the portrait category), previously awarded as part of the SWPA National Award.

The main winners will be announced in April

All winners will be awarded with Sony photography equipment and compete for the top prize in the Open category, which is $5,000.

The main winners of the 2022 Sony World Photography Awards Student, Youth, Open and Professional competitions will be announced on 13 April 2023. The winning works will be exhibited at Somerset House in London from 14 April to 1 May 2023.

The world-famous Sony World Photography Awards, organized annually by the World Photography Association, is one of the world’s leading events in the photography industry. Participation in the fourteenth organized competition is free. SWPA is the global voice of the entire photography community and an opportunity to access the fascinating world of contemporary photography. Participating photographers – both established and emerging – have a unique opportunity to showcase their achievements to the world.

The competition also awards the most influential artists every year with the Outstanding Contribution to Photography award. Previous recipients of the award include Martin Parr, William Eggleston, Mary Ellen Mark, Candida Hofer and Nadav Kander.
