SXSW – South by Southwest

For the corporate and creative universe, it can be said that the new year begins after the south by southwest. From March 10 to 19, the city of Austin, Texas becomes the epicenter of innovation with a renowned conference marked by memorable content, a film festival, art exhibitions and concerts – in an ideal atmosphere for networking. But what are we looking for in this event? As a strategic consultancy focused on creating possible futures, my visit to SXSW has well-defined goals.
For years, we have studied how it is necessary to awaken a new concept of conscience, guided by an improved sense of ethics and responsibility, which mainly adapts to the requirements of the new virtual environments in which we move. We explore the functionality of new technologies as the “rules of the game” are redefined. We therefore seek to deepen the practical implications rooted in discussions of artificial intelligence (AI), Web3, blockchain, the metaverse, and correlates. Discussions on copyright, education, digitization of early childhood, AI empathy and virtual ethics lead our radar at the conference. But this new awareness we advocate is not limited to technology. It is mainly focused on the analysis of the behavior in which we are.
Another highly anticipated topic at SXSW is establishing the use of cannabis and psychedelics in the holistic treatment of the world’s population. Health is a subject of immense evolution and maturation, and cannabis, after years on the agenda of the conference, enters with relevance in the approach to health and well-being in front of the mainstream. Therefore, our focus here is on discussions of how to incorporate these treatments into the global health system and transform psychedelics into patent pharmaceuticals.
Finally, our trip to SXSW 2023 marks a milestone in the Box1824 journey. Attending the event as spectators for more than a decade, we will make our debut in the festival lineup with the panel How to decode culture to build a better future?, in which I will share the stage with Talita Andrade, Head of Brand Communication at Michelob Ultra Obitelj and Patricia Muratori, Director of Youtube Brasil, to explored how the most innovative companies are creating the future they envision based on increased awareness of the intersection of youth, culture and technology.
