What does the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X look like and what does it offer?
Along with the card we get a user manual, a 4x-pin adapter and a mouse pad. The stand and adapter are additions we’ve seen in each of the RTX 4090 models. It’s nice to add a mouse pad – it’s nothing but nice.
The MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X looks great. We have backlighting on the sides, on the back plate and around the fans, so regardless of the mounting, the graphics will look great. Of course, you can control it through the MSI software. The graphics are also well done and I have no doubts about that either.

The dimensions of the tested model are 336 x 142 x 78 mm and its weight is 2413 g. So again it is a very heavy and large build – a roomy case is definitely recommended. Power is from a 16-pin connector, but of course we also have a 4x 8-pin adapter. The proposed power supply is 1000 W, although MSI gives a minimum of 850 W. Three TORX Fan 5.0 fans and a powerful radiator with heat pipes are responsible for cooling. The card works semi-passively, so there will be perfect silence at rest. Available image outputs are 3x DisplayPort 1.4a and 1x HDMI 2.1.
The card is factory overclocked, and its boost clock is 2625 MHz – the highest among the models tested so far. The timing is the same for both BIOSes (Gaming and Silent – there is a physical switch). However, in the Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition 2560×1440 px benchmark, the average clock speed is 2754 MHz, which is the lowest among the RTX 4090 models tested.

Tested at 1920 x 1080 resolution
As always with the RTX 4090, we are dealing with a bottleneck in the first resolution. The results are great, but compared to 2560 x 1400 px, they’re only slightly higher in some games.
Tested at 2560 x 1440 resolution
The next resolution is again great results on the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X. It is worth noting, however, that the MSI model is the worst among the tested RTX 4090s.
Tested at 3840 x 2160 resolution
The MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X undoubtedly allows for completely smooth gameplay at 3840 x 2160 px. The results are great and you can easily play games at maximum detail.
You can immediately see the difference between the two BIOS modes – Silent and Gaming. In the first cases, the temperatures are already higher, but they should not cause alarm all the time. They are much lower in Gaming, some of the lowest on the RTX 4090.
We have perfect silence at rest. It’s quiet in Gaming mode, but in Silent it’s near perfect silence. So you can choose what interests you – lower temperatures and quiet operation or higher but practically silent operation.
The power consumption is the lowest among the tested RTX 4090. The differences are not big, and the results are lower than the RTX 3090 for example.
I overclocked using MSI Afterburner. In the table below you will find the values with which I was able to increase the core and memory times. I considered stable operation of the card not only the lack of throwing games on the desktop, but also the absence of artifacts during the operation of games. Below you will also find the average OC scores of two games in three resolutions, as well as temperature, volume and power consumption. I tested the card with dual BIOS with OC / Performance mode enabled. The tested model managed to increase by 180 MHz on the core and 187 MHz on the memory.
The MSI delivers the lowest performance among the RXT 4090s tested, but the differences between the models are really small. Here, unfortunately, a lot depends on the art you find and you can get a model that will be at the top of the results without any problems. The card, of course, performs best at 3840 x 2160 resolution, where the average advantage over the RTX 3090 Ti is largest.

Test MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X – summary
The MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X is another excellent model from the tested series of cards. The set includes a holder, 4x 8-pin adapter and a nice addition in the form of a mouse pad. The graphics are well done and look great. In the case with a window, she will surely like it. Another advantage is the physical BIOS switch, so you can choose whether you want lower temperatures and quiet operation or higher and near-silent operation.
In tests, the card was the worst among the tested RTX 4090s, but a lot depends on the art. The differences compared to the competition aren’t huge either, and the card itself still delivers brilliant performance, especially at the 3840 x 2160 resolution. The GPU also cranks well and you can get some free fps. This is at the expense of volume, temperatures, or power consumption, but they don’t grow much either.
So the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim X is again a model that is definitely worth recommending. You will definitely be happy with your purchase as long as you find it at a really reasonable price.
