The end of the island. Apple has learned to do FaceID under the display

Apple has finally figured out how to get rid of the notch and notch on the screen. All the sensors will go under the screen.

Apple is one company that, although it hasn’t innovated much recently, it still manages to launch many Android clones with even the slightest change in appearance. Just look at what happened in the market when Apple returned to flat-edge smartphones. At the same time, however, the company is seriously compromising in some ways, as seen in the case of the “floating island” for the lens, which is the biggest visual change to the smartphone since the iPhone X. Many people suggested at that time. that a big company like Apple should already think of a way to hide the FaceID sensors and the front camera under the screen.

Well, Apple got into it. How long will we wait for it?

According to the US Patent Office, Apple has just been granted a patent for FaceID technology that could work under the display, similar to modern webcams like the Samsung Galaxy X Fold 4. Moreover, Apple claims that the company managed to install. below the display, a number of sensors, including one for detecting air gestures, a pressure sensor and, note, Touch ID. Among the more unusual sensors that can be found there, according to the patent, are LiDAR sensors or a humidity sensor. Of course, it is known that patents are governed by their own laws, and not all technologies should immediately pass to the iPhone, but it is clear that the company has spent a lot of time developing a mechanism that allows not to put. only the camera and FaceID sensor under the display.

An obvious question arises: what could such a change mean? Well, there is probably nothing to deceive, that when it is possible to apply such technology, Apple will not fail to do it. So, we can expect that fans’ dreams will finally come true and they will see an iPhone that meets modern standards in its appearance. Well, maybe even beat them, because the idea of a camera under the screen was already in smartphones two years ago, but until now the idea has not been used on a large scale, and the only phone available in stores is such a module; only in the already mentioned Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. Here, however, not only the camera should be hidden under the screen, but also a whole series of sensors, which makes the solution much more advanced.

When can we expect the new look of the iPhone? Well, it is known that Apple’s factories are slowly salting, and for now the company is not in a hurry to compete in this regard. So, it may turn out that even if the iPhone 15 does not have this feature and it will only appear in the 16 or 17 models, there is a good chance that these devices will be the first to introduce cameras and sensors on a large scale. under the screens. I think there is no need to add what will happen in two months in the whole Android world.
