Brazil – Clerton Castro, the father of the governor Cláudi Castro (PL), was robbed in Botafogo – RJ, on Thursday evening (2). A 74-year-old man was talking on the phone in front of a restaurant at the corner of Rua Visconde de Caravelas and Rua Capitão Salomão, when a man, who was passing by on a bicycle, took his phone. According to witnesses, the thief was wearing a vest from the delivery service.

The robbery lasted a few seconds, and the criminal did not threaten the victim or show a weapon. The stolen device is a Samsung Galaxy S22. Clerton, who was talking to his son Caius when the robbery took place, decided not to report the incident to the governor for fear of his reaction.

For journalist Andréia Sadi’s blog, from TV Globo, the governor of Rio said that the father is fine, that he arrived home as if nothing had happened and that “we are all susceptible” to situations like this.

The press office of the head of the state executive has not yet commented on the case.

In 2022, the region where Cláudi Castro’s father was robbed, and which is under the jurisdiction of the 10th DP (Botafogo), records a large increase in cell phone thefts. There were 1,127 occurrences, which is an increase of 87% compared to last year; and the highest incidence of crime in the region since 2003, the beginning of the historic streak. In January 2023, 109 devices were stolen in that area.
